Symphony Of The Seas - The Best And Worst Dishes In The Main Dining Room
Last year, I went on a cruise for the first time on Oasis of The Seas. It was a surreal experience to step on a cruise ship that I have been fascinated by ever since I was a child. I did not think I would be cruising again for a while because Symphony of the Seas prices were astronomical. But towards the end of August, I found a great deal on the Halloween sailing and booked it immediately.
During seven nights on Symphony of the Seas, I cruised through extremely rocky seas, witnessed the safety features of a large vessel activated in a false emergency, connected with the ocean, and unfortunately ate disappointing food.
It may sound like I had a bad time, but I didn't.
I thought these experiences, though one would consider them disappointing, were very eye-opening and educational. I was sad to leave on disembarkation day. I don’t regret anything about this cruise.
The food on Oasis last year was FANTASTIC. I was looking forward to eating everything I had last year, but to my disappointment, the food was not good on Symphony. I have a theory as to why that was, though.
My food quality theroy
On Disembarkation day, I overheard a woman say she took the same cruise back in May, and she noticed that this time around, the food quality went down significantly, among other things. I think this was because this was the final sailing out of NJ for the year. After our sailing, Symphony sailed to Miami without passengers to relocate during winter.
I don't know how this can impact the food quality, but I think it did. It felt like they were clearing out the freezers because most of my food did not taste fresh. Ironically, El Loco Fresh was one of the most disappointing meals I ate on Oasis last year, but it was one of the best on Symphony.
If you are going on Symphony soon, remember this is just my experience. You could encounter better quality food than I did. I feel like it was just a one-off thing due to it being the final cruise from NJ for the year.
Nevertheless, here is everything I and some of my family members ate on Symphony Of The Seas In The Main Dining Room
I apologize for the quality of first cupople of photos. We had late dining; it was nighttime, so the lighting was not the best and I was still getting used to my new phone. But it gets better promise!
Day One EMBARKATION DAY: WELCOME ABOARD
Starters: Chilled Shrimp Cocktail & Ceasar Salad
Main courses: NY Strip Steak & Slow Roasted Prime Rib
Dessert: Artisan Cheese Plate
I didn’t care for the cheese plate as it was kind of bland.
Day Two SEA DAY: A TASTE OF FRANCE
main course: Grilled Chicken Breast
desserts: Warm Apple Cobbler & Vegan Dark Chocolate Chip Cookies
They tasted as if they were sitting out for a while. On Oasis last year they were a lot fresher.
Day three PORT CANAVERAL: A TASTE OF MEXICO
Starters: Grilled Sweet Corn Cakes & Ceasar Salad
Entree: Spaghetti Bolognese
Not as good as Jamie’s Italian but still hit the spot.
dessert: vegan vanilla ice cream
I think it was made with an Oatmilk base and I didn’t care for it
Day Four COCOCAY: A TASTE OF THE CARIBBEAN
starter: Crispy Coconut Jumbo Shrimp
main courses: Caribbean-Style Chicken & Grilled Chicken Breast
day five NASSAU: A TASTE OF ITALY
Starters: Golden Polenta Fries & Ceasar Salad
Main Courses: Chicken Parmesan & Lasagna Al Frono
Dessert: Crumbly Oat And Berry Bar
day six SEA DAY: THE ROYAL NIGHT
Starter: Vidalia Onion tart
Main Courses: Maine Lobster Tail & Chicken Marsala
I liked this one better than the one I had on Oasis, but I still don’t get the hype of lobster tbh.
This was probably the best entree I had. It was delicious.
desserts: Banana Cocoa Custard & Baked Alaska
day seven SEA DAY: BON VOYAGE
starter: Mediterranean Tapas Medley
This hummus is so so good.
Main Course: Chicken Chettinad
This was another favorite of mine.
Dessert: Black Forest Tart
BREAKFAST & BRUNCH
Omelette Your Way - Ham and Cheese
Buttermilk Pancakes
Not as good as last year. These tasted like the frozen Aunt Jemima pancakes.
Granola Parfait
Not sure why this did not come with berries.
